Two thousand seven was a year of many changes for us and for our family.

In 2001, we had moved to California for Scott to work out of the home office of Key Curriculum Press. We located a home in Oakland and set about to make friends and to explore the western part of our country. We biked, hiked, and kayaked in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. Scott worked at Key and I spent several interesting years working for Earth Share of California. And we made wonderful friends.

While we were living in Oakland, Derek married Nanette Foley and they had two children. Benjamin Joseph was born in 2003 and Alexander Paul was born in 2006.

While we were gone, our good friend Elizabeth Terry kept our home for us. We were able to visit in Philadelphia, staying at “home,” during our six years away. In 2007, we determined it was time to come home for good.

Before we left though, we had adventures and entertained some special guests. In October we drove across county, following for part of the time the route that Rand and Scott had ridden on their bicycles in 2006. Photos of our 2007 adventures are in this photo album.

On December 20, 2007 Randy and Miriam announced their engagement; their wedding will be in August 2008. We are pleased to be home and to be a part of the planning for their day.
